He played Davy Crockett s sidekick, Beekeeper, in The Alamo, and led a notorious campaign to win the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. His other films include Gunsmoke, Tugboat Annie Sails Again, McLintock!, and Kentucky Rifle.
