About Momoko Ishii
Notable as a writer and translator of works for children, Momoko Ishii is particularly remembered for her debut, bestselling work Non Chan Kumo Ni Noru.

Before beginning her literary career, she studied English literature at the Japan Women s University and went on to work for the Iwanami Shoten Publishing Company.
Knowledge Base
Her numerous literary honors include a 1951 Japanese Minister of Education Award, the 1953 Kikuchi Kan Award, and the 1993 Japanese Art Academy Award.
She grew up in Urawa, Saitama Prefecture, Japan. Her childhood was the inspiration for her Yomiuri Prize winning, autobiographical work Maboroshi No Akai Mi.
In 1940, she translated the classic A.A. Milne work, Winnie the Pooh, into Japanese.
