About Alfredo Pareja

Ecuadorian novelist, essayist, journalist, and diplomat who was a founding member of the Grupo de Guayaquil, a prominent literary association. His famous, politically-themed works include La casa de los locos, El muelle, and Las tres ratas.


He was a dock worker in New York City for a year. Later, he returned to his native Ecuador, where he became a professor of history and Spanish.


He was appointed Chancellor of the Republic and served as Foreign Minister of Ecuador.
