About Howie Epstein

Bassist who played with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers for twenty years before his death from a drug overdose.


He was the bassist for John Hiatt in the late 1970s, recording his 1980 album Two Bit Monsters.


He stayed with Petty long after his days with the Heartbreakers and by 1990, he had transitioned into producing. His drug problems became very public.
