About Tom Gores
American businessman rose to become a billionaire as the founder of the hugely successful private equity firm Platinum Equity. In 2011, he purchased the NBA s Detroit Pistons for $325 million.
He moved from Israel to Genesee, Michigan in 1968. He played football, baseball and basketball at Genesee High School.
He was named 2010 s Pro of the Year by Mergers & Acquisitions and was featured on the magazine s cover in April of that year.
