About Joel Ward

Right wing who made his NHL debut in 2006 for the Minnesota Wild. He joined the Nashville Predators in 2008, then signed with the Washington Capitals in 2011. He helped the San Jose Sharks reach the Stanley Cup Finals in 2016.


He played junior hockey for the Owen Sound Platers of the Ontario Hockey League from 1997 to 2001, then played for the University of Prince Edward Island from 2001 to 2005, and for the American Hockey League s Houston Aeros from 2005 to 2007.


On November 1, 2013, he scored his first career hat trick, as his Washington Capitals beat the Philadelphia Flyers 7-0.

His parents, Cecilia and Randal Ward, emigrated from Barbados to Ontario shortly before he was born.
