About Howard Hodgkin

Painter and printmaker known for semi-abstract, bold-colored works such as “Dinner at Smith Square” from 1979.


He was a student at the Camberwell Art School and the Bath Academy of Art. He had his first exhibition in London in 1962. He was known for his use of hard-edged curved forms and few colors.


He was appointed a Companion of Honor by Queen Elizabeth II in 2003, and his work was exhibited at London s Tate Britain gallery in 2006.
