About Florence Atwater

Co-wrote the children s classic book Mr. Poppers Penguins with her husband Richard Atwater. The book was not accepted for publication in its first two attempts, however, following Richard s stroke, she revised the story and the rest is history.


She studied French Literature at the University of Chicago and worked for The Chicago Literary Monthly as a co-editor.


She wrote for publications such as The New Yorker and The Atlantic.
